Reception at R Alexander Fine Art

Looking In

When looking in on Facebook quite often the first thing you see is “Your memories on Facebook”. I enjoy looking at those photos for a moment and then usually go on scrolling down to see what friends have posted.

Last week the nine-year old photo above came up. It is from an exhibit opening reception at a local art gallery. What was unusual is that just a few days earlier I had come across a photo that showed the same scene shot by another photographer at an earlier event. The coincidence made me decide to post on the topic of “looking in”. There is more to this story, but about that a bit later.

On the how-to page the text starts: “Windows are all around us, windows to look into, windows to look out of.” We, of course, respect the privacy of others and don’t look into private windows. There are many windows that invite looking in, shop windows, store fronts, and many others. Here is a short selection of some of those.

Now about that other photo. It too is from a reception at that gallery. I was not on assignment that time, just a guest. Yes, that is me in that white sweater with my wife to my right.
