Restaurant Windows

For this week another drive-by photo. This one of a restaurant outside Athens, Georgia. Just a small building with a front door and two large windows. You can see the tables inside. No customers, the photo was taken in the late afternoon long after lunch and before dinner time.

I just could not skip this shot as it really is a selfie. Something I had not notices until I was inspecting the image after post-processing. Well, not much of a selfie, but you can recognize the reflection of my car and something in the open rear window. That’s me, or at least my hands and my camera.

Knot in the Window

Traveling home from a trip to Augusta last year I was sitting in the back seat with my camera looking out the window for photo opportunities. My camera was set to a shutter speed of 1/1000 sec so I would minimize any blur to the speed of the camera and error in my panning. The zoom lens was at 24mm focal length – wide angle to help get what I was after as we drove through the country side. The aperture at f/8 would be enough to get anything sharp as the depth of field at that focal length setting is quite large.

I have shared a few other photos from that trip. Here is an interesting one because of the way the curtains are tied in this really old house. Again, nothing special, just an old home in a tiny little community along a back road in Georgia.

Here is all of the house.

Windows of the HMS Bounty

This week we remember the Tall Ship HMS Bounty. It was just eight years ago that this beautiful ship was lost to hurricane Sandy.

She had visited Savannah that May and it turned out to be my last visit on this magnificent reconstruction for the movie “Mutiny on the Bounty”.

Here are links to my blog posts from that time. Many of the links in the posts no longer work. Others work but not the way they did eight years ago.

Goodbye HMS Bounty

Remembering the HMS Bounty

This is my photo of the windows from inside the ship.

Buckhead – Once More

Some months back I needed a title image for a presentation on architectural photography. I went into my archive looking for an unpublished photo and came across the one used here. Since it also showed lots of windows I put a copy into my folder for Monday Window.

It has been sitting there. I just couldn’t figure out how to make best use of it. Vertical images don’t play well as “featured image”. There is no way to know what part of it anybody will see. Cropping out a horizontal section was my decision – just what part?

Well, here are three different crops. And, at the end the original and also a “Perspective adjusted” version.

Well, I think each one has some merit. Which one would you use?

The two imgages above are in a “tiled gallery”. It won’t go wide like the individual photos above, and the “lightbox” views are rather pathetic. WordPress keeps “improving” – I just wish they’d get somebody with a bit of talent and artistic ability to do their image handling. So let’s trick the system:
